WiFi phones use the analogous signals as other cordless phones, but WiFi enables devices are used to receive the signal. Then you are connected to high speed phone lines by access points that are placed in different locations. The main aim of WiFi phone technology is to transmit the data a lot faster compared to ordinary mobile phones. One of the main disadvantages that WiFi phones at the moment have is that the coverage range of the service is a lot smaller than for ordinary mobile phones.
The technology of WiFi phones is called Voice over Internet Protocol or shortly VoIP. Conversations are transformed into data and send forward via internet when using VoIP. The speed of the connection and data transmission is affected by numerous factors, for example the number of internet users at that particular hot spot, the presence of obstacles for the signal, the proximity of the hot spot to your device etc. In addition, the signal transmitted by the WiFi phone technology might be affected by the materials and barriers on its way.
WiFi phone technology is still in constant development but the possibilities that the current technology offers is still include excellent quality and cost efficient communication opportunities.
